So there is a unity in diversity that prevails in our industry. Hema Malini,the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood originally belongs to the state of Tamil Nadu. She was born to an Iyengaran Family and was brought up in the southern part of India. In the initial phases of her career she acted in movies of southern language but later on ventured into the Bollywood.The industry welcomed her and she enjoyed continuous success in Bollywood. With the release of her movie ‘Dream Girl’ she earned the tag of the film’s title and was a part of many succesfull movies then, with ‘Sholay’ being the most prominent among them.
The yesteryear beauty queen of Hindi Cinema ,Rekha is the daughter of Popular Tamil/Telugu actor Gemini Ganesan. She was born in Tamil Nadu. It is quite evident from the fact that she made her film debut through a Kannada movie. More fame and recognition was waiting for her and she eventually reached Bollywood and established her foothold in the industry.
Mithun Chakrabarthy :
Mithun Chakrabarthy was born in Hyderabad but his parents are rooted to West Bengal. It was Bollywood that gave him some fine opportunities and lifted his stardom. But later she built a fort of her own in the Bollywood and also made her presence felt in Hollywood.Sushmita Sen:
The former Miss Universe was born in Hyderabad but basically she is a Bengali as both her parents have their roots attached there. She did her education partly in New Delhi and the rest in Secundarabad. It was the Miss Universe title that she won in 1994 that led her to the film Industry, with ‘Dastak’ being her first film. Later on she acted in number of Bollywood movies.
Prakash Raj :
Prakash Raj is one such an actor who has got that pan Indian appeal. He hails from Bangalore and he had started off his career working in few kannada serials. He gained momentum once he reached Tamil film industry and Mani ratnam movie ‘Iruvar’ catapulted his fame. From then on he has been an integral part of South Indian film industry featuring in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada movies. Tamil movies have been hos forte offering him variety roles. Kay Kay Menon:
Kay Kay Menon who falls into the league of startling actors of Bollywood like Irrfan Khan, ManojBajpai, PareshRawal, Naseeruddin Shah etc originally hails from the God’s own country, Kerala. He was born in Kerala but he was brought up in Mumbai as his parents moved to the city. He did his education over there and later on ventured to theatres to start his acting career. His abilities led him to the television industry acting in few serials. He launched into films through the movie Naseem in 1995. But he was noted mainly through Sudheer Mishra’s venture Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi. After that he went on to do many brilliant roles with the recently released ‘Haider’ fetching him the Filmfare award for Best supporting actor.
South Indian Film industry has accepted many actors who
originally hailed from different places.If you take into consideration the
actresses at present ruling the South Indian Industry it could be found that
most of them are alien to that particular language. Actresses like Nayanthara,
Amala Paul, Nithya Menon etc who are ruling the South Indian film Industry are
originally from Kerala.Another set of actresses like Tamanna, Hansika Motwani,Charmee etc are from the
Northern part of India.
