The past week was an exciting one for Action movie lovers. The reason is simple and it is Mohanlal's Pulimurugan, which gave the necessary thrills to all the lovers of the genre.
Pulimurugan, by far has some of the best stunt sequences ever seen in Malayalam cinema. Kudos to Vysakh and his entire team who pulled off such amazing stunts.
More importantly, a big round of applause must be given to peter Hein, the man behind the idea of stunts and Mohanlal, who effortlessly did the sequences to perfection.
In fact, Indian cinema has witnessed some brilliant stunt sequences in the past also. Here, we list some of the Indian films, which had some thrilling and amazing action sequences. Stunt sequences of the following films were brilliantly choreographed that they looked more real and believable.
Anniyan
Anniyan was a trendsetter movie, in all aspects. The film had plentiful of action sequences, which were enjoyable, without defying the logic. Especially the post-interval stunt sequence, in which Anniyan takes on a group of led by Kung Fu master. Guess the man behind the stunts of the film! Yes, it is none other than Peter Hein.

Peter hein is one of the most acclaimed action choreographers of the country. In fact, he started off as an assistant to renowned fight master Kanal Kannan. Later, after becoming an independent action director, he carved a place of his own in the industry. He is the first choice of prominent directors like Shankar, S S Rajamouli etc.

Bheema
Bheema, was fully loaded in terms of action sequences. The fight sequence before the interval block is simply an amazing one. Vikram could be seen flexing his muscles and the power-packed stunt sequence was choreographed by Kanal Kannan. You ought to see the sequence to believe the intensity of the stunts in the scene.

Kanal Kannan has been in the industry since the early 1990's. He is one of the prominent action choreographers of South Indian film industry. Apart from that, he has also acted in good number of films.

Big B
It was the film Big B starring Mammootty, which introduced the concept of stylish action sequences to Malayalam cinema. Till then, stunt sequences did follow a clichéd format in Malayalam films. But, Big B brought in this new trend and the action sequences were short, slick and enjoyable. The action scenes of the film were choreographed by Anal Arasu.

Don – The Chase begins Again
The film, which had Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role had some realistic stunts in it. In fact, it is one such Bollywood movie, which had stunts choreographed in the most believable manner. Be it the climax action sequence or the thrilling car chase in the initial portions of the film, all were amazing. The stunts of the film were choreographed by Kanishka Sharma and his team.
Enthiran
The big budget movie directed by Shankar was first of its kind. The film had some scintillating action sequences, which gelled well with the movie. The climax stunt sequences as well as the train fight sequences are examples of that. Peter Hein choreographed the stunt sequences for the film.
Viswaroopam
Remember the much acclaimed transformation scene from the film? The action sequences were scintillating and the breath-taking stunts were choreographed by Lee Whittaker and team. The climax sequences were also well choreographed and did match the Hollywood standards.
Commando
Vidyut Jaimwal did win the hearts of the
audiences with his breath-taking stunts from the film Commando. The movie is
filled with some realistic and thrilling action sequences which were
effortlessly performed by the actor.
Franz Spilhaus, Kaushal and Moses looked after the stunt sequences of
the film.

Baahubali – The Beginning
This film is a perfect fit in to this list. Baahubali, which is among the costliest movies ever produced in India is filled with some great stunt sequences. The war sequences in the film is always a delight to watch. Once again, it was Peter Hein who choreographed the scintillating action sequences of the film.
Dhoom Series
Nothing much has to be said about the films of this series. In fact, all the three films of the series were well-known for some dare devil stunt sequences. Especially, the bike stunts, which are among the best that Indian cinema has ever seen. Prominent action director Allan Amin was the man behind the stunt sequences in the film.

Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi
Rewind to the year 1997. Back then, stunts in Bollywood films were more or less stereotyped. But, there was always an extra flavour in stunt sequences performed by Akshay Kumar. The film, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi had some fine stunts from the actor. In fact, the actor won wide praises for the daredevil stunt sequences in the film. Stunt sequences of the film were choreographed by Akbar Bakshi.
Ezhaam Arivu
The film might have disappointed the normal audiences, up to some extent. Nut, it has to be said that the first half an hour of the movie, was truly world class. The fight sequences during the Bodhidharman episode were simply amazing. Peter Hein, once again impressed the audiences with his dexterity in handling such sequences.
Ra. One
Probably, the only superhero flick, which had some amazing stunts that could well match the Hollywood standards. Check out for the sequences in which Ra.one and G.one fights out with cars splashing all over around. The film has many such sequences, which were well choreographed.
